An experienced restaurant enthusiast Will Rawson has risen to the challenge of bringing life back to Newlands in Cape Town.

Furley’s is a new family-friendly restaurant and bar located in the heart of Newlands on the corner of Main Road and Dean Street. Having opened its doors at the end of 2021, the restaurant aims to bring vibrance and excitement back to the southern suburbs of Cape Town after many restaurants and bars suffered from the economic fallout of the last two years. The founder also envision bringing about meaningful change through skills development and job creation.

“We were inspired to bring life back into the community by creating an environment where everyone is welcome, and where our patrons can enjoy real value for money. These were the most fundamental foundations for us, because we want Furley’s to feel like a home away from home for everyone who walks through our doors,” says Rawson.

Our offering brings fresh life and opportunity to what residents may fondly remember as the Golden Spur Steak Ranch for the past 18 years. The massive 500sqm space has been refurbished into a modern and welcoming restaurant and bar environment, boasting a children’s play area, a stage for live entertainment, a fully stocked bar and delicious food and great service.

Very very reasonable prices for the portion sizes. Lovely selection of cocktails. I ordered the load shedding basket and everything, I mean everything in that basket was soooooo yummy. Definitely adding Furley’s to my list of places to frequent.

“Excellent burgers. Spotted them in the afternoon in place of the old spur in Newlands (while driving – amazing what a good logo and a sign does). Thought I’d check them out on socials… I was surprised at the size of the burgers then checked their menu out and wow, great prices.

Service was amazing even for takeaways (collected as I’m pretty far). Burger was amazing and the kids pops are great especially the portion size (I don’t think my 4 year old toddlersaurous will finish it hahaha dad will).

Staff is friendly and manager is awesome. Definitely try them out and I’ll definitely order again, I want ribs next time especially for that price and size and taste. If you love meat just go try them (they also have veggie option for veggie lovers).”

There was a bartender by the name Damien who did his job exceptionally well big ups to him and the team, you will definitely see me again.”
